AREA OF COVERAGE
Area covered by different satellite scenes

Different sensors have different swaths. Generally, standard products are provided as full scenes. However, to obtain better output scales or to optimize data requirements, part of the Full scenes such as Quadrants or Geocoded products or Shift Along Track products can also be provided.

The main types, based on area coverage are given in the table below:

Guidelines for Data ordering.

Specifying user area of Interest

To obtain satellite data, users have to specify their area of interest. This may be

  • a city
  • a district
  • a state
  • a watershed
  • any contiguous area

This can be specified in terms of:

  • latitude / longitude of corners of a polygon
  • path / row number(obtained from a referencing scheme map)
  • map sheet number (as per Survey of India SOI nomenclature)
  • shape file

NDC can provide reference maps for the different satellite missions from which data is acquired. An Integrated Digital Referencing Scheme (IDRS) Software package which can be run on any PC with Windows environment is also available. By utilising this package the user's area of interest (place, polygon, mapsheet, etc. ) can be converted into path/row number of the required satellite mission. A print out of the plot showing the nominal coverage can also be obtained. IDRS package is available at NRSC web site as free download. It is available under utilities option in the website.

Data Ordering

Users can place orders for data products by filling the order form specifying the sensors, type of product, period of interest, etc. along with 100% advance payment in the form of a DD payable to NRSC at Hyderabad. A running account will be opened at NDC and the funds will be deposited in the account. Upon receipt of an order, NDC will take up the same for processing and send a confirmation (in about 3 -4 days) to the user.

Products are generally dispatched within a week to ten days from the date of confirmation. All products are checked for quality before dispatch. Products are generally shipped by courier/speed post with the invoices. A copy of our order form is enclosed in Download order Page. The general term and conditions for data supply is in the NRSC Product Purchase Agreement Page.

Priority services

Data products can also be supplied on urgent basis. Priority charges are:

  • 50% additional charge for the products to be supplied within three working days.
  • 100% additional charge for products to be supplied within one working day.
  • Data transfer through FTP for an additional charge of Rs 1000/- per product.

Orders should reach NDC before 11A. M and acceptance is subject to feasibility of generation.

Quality

All the data products are checked for quality before despatch. If the user observes any problem with the data it should be communicated within 30 days to NDC for evaluation/rectification from date of receipt of the products.
